Dinner & Art Auction

Each year the Awards Recognition Dinner & Art Auction event raises money to benefit the foundation’s goal of helping seniors in the metropolitan New York City area enjoy healthier, safer, more productive and dignified lives. The Foundation supports those who may have limited resources at a time when they have the greatest needs, so they may continue to live independently.

A portion of funds raised at the dinner will support the Foundation’s new program – Shingles Virus Awareness and Vaccination Program. This program directly addresses the low level of shingles awareness among NYC seniors and provides a no-cost vaccination to those who otherwise cannot afford it.

We appreciate your contribution and participation.  Each is essential in fulfilling our mission to help seniors in need.

Meet 2015 Honorees

eva_photoEva-Maria Tausig is a quintessential New Yorker and a long-time member of the board of the New York Foundation for Eldercare and its current treasurer. Her life is one of service, concentrating on seniors and she believes in acting, rather than lip-service, to advance a cause. Her grandparents, Dr. & Mrs. Paul G. Frank, and family, knew Margaret Tietz and her family in Germany. They assisted Margaret Tietz in her social work activities at Newark House. Later, Paul’s son, Ernst L. Frank, was one of the founders of the New York Foundation for Nursing Homes, the predecessor organization, which was initially established for Holocaust survivors, among other seniors. Mrs. Tausig joined the board of the Margaret Tietz Nursing Home in 1985 and served for more than 25 years. She has been on the board of the Women’s City Club of New York, as well as the National Dance Institute, for many years. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and completed a doctoral residency in linguistics at Columbia University.

lorayne_photoLorayne C. Fiorillo is a Managing Director at Wells Fargo and the managing partner of the Fiorillo Financial Strategy Group. Ms. Fiorillo has more than 30 years of experience as a wealth manager to individual and institutional clients, retirement plans and endowments. As the investment manager of the NYFE portfolio since 2006, she has focused on generating investment growth and increasing income. As a result, NYFE has the financial resources to expand its programs and become more creative in developing new projects, such as the shingles vaccination initiative. Ms. Fiorillo was named to the Research Magazine Advisor Hall of Fame, one of only five individuals selected in 2012. She is the author of the book, Financial Fitness in 45 Days, The Complete Guide to Getting Your Personal Finances in Shape, and co-author of the book, Start Your Own Business. Ms. Fiorillo received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Georgetown University. She was appointed to the Scarsdale Cable TV Commission in 2012 and continues to serve as its Chair.

ashley_photoAshley A. Romano is a National Director of Patient Experience and Research Development at CareRite Centers, LLC. Mrs. Romano has served her entire career in healthcare, following in the footsteps of her parents. Her experiences spans the spectrum of healthcare — in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, independent living communities, as well as home care. At CareRite, she created a national team of professionals that offers personalized care, so that staff may advocate for those individuals who, perhaps, may not be able to express their preferences and interests themselves. She has also developed innovative programs for veterans, to ensure they receive the care to which they are entitled, as do their families. Mrs. Romano received her Master’s degrees from Columbia University and holds a CTRS license. She was a Fortune 52 Honoree in 2012, and was awarded the Forbes Young Woman to Watch award in 2013.
