Brandy Antonio’s focus is on impulsive gesture and intuitive mark-making, to find balance in the chaos and form through feeling. Gestural marks with oil sticks, found objects and sudden splashes across the canvas provide a tactile quality that emphasize the collision of abstraction and representation. Her most recent works pull influences from the CoBrA and Gutai movements, and investigate the precariousness of creating roundness and its typical association with perfection.
